Med drugim je vodil napad na italijansko utrdbo pri Črnem Vrhu ter na stražarsko posadko na Marofu pri Idriji. Posebno sodišče za zaščito države je Janka Premrla junija 1942 v odsotnosti obsodilo na smrt. Goriški prefekt je za njim razpisal tiralico in obljubil visokih 50.000 lir nagrade. 15. februarja 1943 je bil v boju s posadko fašistične gozdne milice ob cesti v Idrijsko Belo težko ranjen, teden kasneje pa je za posledicami ran umrl.
